From Oscar-winning Danish director Susanne Bier, Bird Box is a thriller set in a near-future where society has been beset by terrifying unseen entities. Well, actually, they’re not unseen – the twist here is that anyone who catches sight of them will be driven to suicide or to homicidal insanity. Sandra Bullock plays a mother leading her two children through this treacherous world, surviving by wearing blindfolds at all times. Bird Box has been compared to this year’s earlier horror film A Quiet Place due to its similar premise, and is easily the most intriguing release coming to Netflix this weekend.
